Kiera Knightley hails Johnny Depp’s work

A rendezvous with Keira Knightley reveals what the star thinks about the final franchise of the Pirates movie, her role of Elizabeth Swann and much more.

Regarding the experience of working on Pirates 2 and 3 in comparison to the first film, Keira Knightley said that “It has been weird because I can’t even remember where we started. I guess we started in February and it felt like the last two years had never happened and we have been working on Pirates of the Caribbean the entire time. (laughs) But it has been great. It’s a long haul, as I said. I have never done anything for so long as this, which makes it different.” Keira Knightley added that she has kind of picked from where she left. Keira Knightley said “We have got these fantastic sets, it’s exactly the same crew with a couple of additions, the same cast, director, writers and producers. So, it really is like we never finished doing the first one and we have just continued.”

When asked about some kind of training taken for the role, Keira Knightley said that “We are doing a big fight scene in the studio at the moment which is one of the reasons why I am not working because it takes so bloody long (laughs). But, we have done a lot of that and it was good, I did a couple of weeks training at the beginning of filming but the stunt guys were great. And I think, we all picked it up pretty quick.”

About her preference between working for the Caribbean and staying in LA, Keira Knightley said that “I prefer being here in LA. We go to some very beautiful places, I think you do end up getting island fever specially if you are going to the tourist islands. But, I’m enjoying being in LA, as I am a city girl so I like cities.”

Keira Knightley told that her mother is staying with her right now. She is out here with me at the moment because I am doing so much press. I don’t have a weekend off for the next six weeks.”

When asked about the parameters on which she decides to do a film, Keira Knightley said that I don’t know, it’s just whatever catches my fancy. If it is a film I think I would want to see and then that’s kind of a good way to judge it. But it just depends. I don’t pick it by genre, if I read a good comedy and I say ‘Oh yeah, I’d really like to be a part of that…’. I don’t really have a plan, it just jumps out to me.”

In response to her experience of working with Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom, Keira Knightley said that “They are very nice and great. I love to watch Johnny work, as it’s masterful. It’s like taking an acting master class. And I have known Orlando for a long time. He’s my mate.”
